Autumnal Equinox

Autumnal Equinox is the day when the earth has neither the southern hemisphere nor the northern hemisphere tilted towards the sun. On this day, there are almost equal amounts of daylight and night hours. Away from the equator, this happens twice per year. Our autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere is the point where daylight hours begin to be shorter than night hours…while, in the Southern hemisphere, people are celebrating the Spring Equinox when days will begin to have more daylight hours as they head towards summer! Seasons are so interesting!

Autumn…the year's last, loveliest smile.

William Cullen

I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.

Nathaniel Hawthorne

Though I do love summer fun, autumn is my favorite season. In September, the days generally have agreeable weather with cool mornings and evenings, but pleasantly warm days. Though most flowers are fading in September, a few begin to show off just for fall. Even as the flowers are fading, deciduous trees leaves are just starting to turn color.  Sometimes, an early frost paints intricate patterns on the fallen leaves. Indoors, fall decorating begins, and it’s also a time for autumn beverages and treats!

If you live in the northern hemisphere, enjoy a pumpkin spice latte or hot tea and take a cool morning walk to note all the seasonal changes! The autumn show is just beginning!!!
