May 1st marks 8 months since Paths of Joy Nature Photography was established AND 6 months since Paths of Joy Daily Inspiration blog began.  In some ways, it feels very recent and in other ways, it feels like I’m in the beginning stages of a long uphill hike which is beautiful but not easy!

When I began Scripture ‘n Picture posts on Facebook over a decade ago, I thought that it was just a month or two posting commitment, but I let God have control of the ministry…and time marched on until more than a decade had passed! With Paths of Joy, I am going into its two distinct aspects with much more awareness, knowing that God may have a long-term plan that isn’t necessarily what I expect. 

For many years, I knew that God was going to ask more of me than simply continuing the ministry of Scripture ‘n Picture. With my love of God, people, nature, writing, and photography, I suspected that those would unite together to become “something”.  Thoughts flitted through my mind of a devotional book or maybe an online feature. It all seemed so impossibly big to me, so I just didn’t move forward for the longest time.  Even though, I was feeling more and more led to step out in faith…

Then God brought a dear friend into my life who is an amazing successful artist, a painter of exquisite Sierra scenes. She persistently encouraged me to develop my photography, so, last September, Paths of Joy Nature Photography was born! Paths of Joy features two types of art. Traditional gallery style art images of many of the stunning natural places that I spend time in while hiking or exploring. Inspirational Art are smaller pieces that dovetail nature images with favorite quotes or Scripture; this stems directly from the heart of the long standing “Scripture ‘n Picture” posts.
