Summer sighs…

The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last for ever. Even on the most beautiful days in the whole year – the days when summer is changing into autumn – the crickets spread the rumor of sadness and change."

EB White

Summer reluctantly tiptoes into early fall. The sun rises just a little later and the mornings are cooler. The warm sunset evenings begin to beg a light sweater. Though garden plants are heavy with vegetables, the green leaves and stems have areas of yellow tiredness. Flowers bloom abundantly as if desperately trying to use their colors and beauty to keep autumn at bay. Yet early September whispers of coming change.
