Stepping into perspective…

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

Henry David Thoreau

Most of my friends live in a single-story home, but I live in a two-story home now for the first time in my life. My single-story friends are so grateful that they don’t have to deal with stairs, particularly as we all get older. Me, well, I’m kind of ambivalent.

Part of me would enjoy living in a single story again, but part of me realizes that the stairs are helping to keep me in shape for hiking up and down mountains. It’s like being in training every day!  Do I always feel like ascending the stairs for the dozenth time in a day?  Nope, not even!  Am I glad that I’m stronger because of my many treks up and down the stairs each day?  Absolutely!

What mini challenges do you have in your life that are actually good for you? Stairs, like many things in life, are all about perspective…
