Perfection beckons…

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us. 1 John 4:16-17(a)

What is it about an untouched, untrammeled fresh snow that seems almost magical?  Or the overwhelming draw and charm of a newborn baby?  When we look at flowers with perfectly formed petals, unmarred by insect bites or wilt, those are inevitably the ones that we find most appealing. And happiness really is a warm puppy…

Each of those seems so very perfect. Yet each of those will change with time.  Perhaps that is why we are so drawn to God, whose very character is perfect love. Unchanging and unending.  Intuitively, our very soul seeks communion with the One who designed us and knows us better than we know ourselves.

Perhaps you’ve not yet come to the realization that you are loved more than seems possible, without conditions and without the constraints of time and place.  Maybe you’re not even sure that God exists.  Yet if you have ever experienced a awe-inspiring moment of peace watching a sunset, holding a newborn baby, or some other joyfully perfect moment, then you’ve experienced the loving Presence of the Father and Jesus. My prayer for each of you is that those divine moments will cause you to seek the perfect love of the One who loves you eternally and completely.
