Joyously anticipating the unknown….

About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:1 (b)-2

All I know is that I know nothing.

Today we continue this week’s focus on anticipation as we focus on the Wise Men as part of December's theme of anticipation. The Bible offers limited information about them; they journeyed a great distance from the East following the Christmas Star and brought extremely valuable gifts, acknowledging the importance of the birth they sought. While it's unlikely they realized they would meet the Son of God, their actions reveal incredible anticipation for an event they did not completely understand.

Often, what we hope for turns out to be more than expected—a job may lead to meeting a future spouse, volunteering might reveal your true calling, or trying a new activity could spark a lifelong passion. We may anticipate one outcome, but there is often an unexpected depth beneath the surface.

Are you willing to embrace possibilities by savoring unknown anticipation?
